My Role: Technical Artist, Developer
2023.03 - 2023.06

“Harness the power of magical instruments to navigate beat-timed barriers in a scenic landscape on your quest to see the beauty of this natural world.“

Movements is a third-person desktop experience built in Unreal Engine 5 exploring gamified synesthesia with a primary focus on music.

In the game, the player navigates through two contrasting areas using musical instruments to surpass various barriers. The player’s actions, obstacles to avoid, and other various environmental elements are all tied to the beat of the music.

To make the project, we used Unreal Engine 5 with C++ and Blueprints for development, Figma, Maya and Substance Painter for art, and Logic Pro for sound.

My Role:
  • Tech art (rock crack, blinking crystals, mesh grass, landscape shaders and tools, water, tree shader, particle path, etc.)
  • UI animation and dev
  • Development (timing reset, audio synesthesia, VFX integration, etc. )
  • Lighting (skybox, volumetric cloud, light baking, etc. )

Rock Crack Effect

I created the rock crack effect with Unreal Engine’s Chaos Destruction System. The rock was cracked ahead, and the explosion is trigger by the force field attached on the player when using the instrument.
